About the Artist

Sonya Sombreuil is a Los Angeles based artist and founder of the fashion label COME TEES (2009). Sombreuil’s limited-edition garments are all screen-printed by hand and often include song lyrics applied in heavy brushstrokes, references to comic and zine art, jagged lines, and saturated colors. A painter by trade, Sombreuil’s DIY approach and community-driven mentality anchors every aspect of COME TEES. Dedicated to making art accessible and collectible to wide audiences, Sombreuil considers screen-printed clothing an extension of her painting practice. Since 2017, she has been teaching T-shirt making, drawing, and screen-printing in local prisons.
