Susanne Schmögner is a painter, illustrator, stage and costume designer, and makeup artist best known for her large-scale outdoor sculptures and immersive installations.

Schmögner collaborated with Heller again to create a playground of sparkling sculptures resembling genies and spirits for Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Austria. She also created a sculpture of a creature with a pointed head peeking out from behind a cluster of plants and a kiosk-like wooden installation painted with animals and insects for Heller’s Botanical Garden in Gardone Riviera, Italy; and a series of sculptures camouflaged amidst nature for Heller’s ANIMA Garden in Marrakesh, Morocco.

For Luna Luna, Schmögner designed an immersive spiral-shaped labyrinth. The fabric forming the spiral features hand-painted sets of gridded and coiled lines, bird flocks, and flowers. At the center of the labyrinth, a black and gold deity-like sculpture and a smaller cat-like figure handed viewers a copy of French Symbolist poet Arthur Rimbaud’s “Golden Age”—which speaks of the power of works of art to transcend reality.
